A busy holiday weekend coming up

Filed under: New Hope Information — newhopeqt @ 9:22 pm

It was a great time of relaxation last weekend on Weiss Lake in Centre, Alabama and a wonderful time of worship at Bay Springs Motel and Campground. It was a pleasure to sing with The Sojourners from Centre, Alabama.  We look forward to going back to the lake sometime next year. A word of thanks and appreciation to Terri and Rick at Bay Springs for their hospitality. On Sunday we had a great service at New Harmony Christian Church in Lineville, Alabama. Thanks to the Christian Church Conference for the invitation. It will be another busy weekend this weekend. On Saturday morning we will be singing at New Hope Ministries in Oxford, Alabama. Hope you can join us for a time of fellowship, food, fun and good singing. On Sunday night, we will celebrate Labor Day at Wind Creek State Park in Alexander City, Alabama. This will be our second trip to the state park and we are looking for another good time. We hope each of you have a good holiday weekend. Please continue to pray for us as we travel sharing the Good News of our Savior.

Changes in our group

Scott Cotney

Scott Cotney

We want to apologize for not keeping you updated as often as we should, but we have been really busy and we have had some changes in our group. First things first. Davis Vaughn, our lead singer, has decided to step back for awhile and has left the group. He has done a great job the past year and a half and we wish him well in the future. He will fill in for a few more singings through October. We would like to introduce you to our new lead singer, Scott Cotney, from Ashland, Alabama. Scott has sung with some groups in the past but has most recently had a solo ministry. He joined the group this past weekend at singings in New Site, Alabama and Piedmont, Alabama. We welcome Scott to our group and our family and we know that he will do a great job for us…in fact he already has. You can read more about Scott on our bio page. The changes will be forthcoming soon.  As we mentioned, we sung in Piedmont, Alabama this past weekend at Goshen Methodist Church. The house was packed and we had a great service. God has performed miracles for that church and the members after a tornado destroyed the church and took the lives of many people during a Palm Sunday tornado in 1994. May God continue to bless them in a special way. This weekend, we will be visiting with Homeward Bound Church in Lineville, Alabama on Saturday night and with everyone at Worship on the Water in Wedowee, Alabama on Sunday Morning. Keep us in your prayers as we travel and share the Good News our Savior.

Homecomings and more

Filed under: New Hope Information — newhopeqt @ 2:17 pm

We had a great weekend of fellowship at Buckner’s Restaurant in Jackson, Georgia and Lineville Church of God in Lineville, Alabama. At Buckner’s on Saturday night, it was a great crowd and they seem to really enjoy the music. It was good to sing with our friends, Spiritual Voices from Dahlonega, Georgia. We look forward to visiting with Brother Ed again in October. On Sunday it was homecoming at Lineville Church of God. It was good to see so many old friends and make so many new ones. We look forward to being back there for homecoming next year. This weekend will be a busy one for us with a homecoming at Bellview Baptist Church in Lineville, Alabama Sunday. We will be singing in the morning service and right after lunch. From there we pack up and head to Union D Baptist Church for an evening singing. If you are in the area, come hear at one of these churches. God is continuing to bless our group in so many ways. Dates are still being added for 2010 and even more are being added for 2011. Continue to pray that we always be found doing the Father’s Will.

A blessed weekend

Filed under: New Hope Information — newhopeqt @ 7:33 pm

We had a busy weekend, but the Lord blessed in so many ways. It was good to fellowship with Harold Kirkland and everyone at Hollonville Opry in Hollonville, Georgia Saturday night. We enjoyed the fellowship and the time we spent with the other groups and everyone who attended. On Sunday, we celebrated homecoming with everyone at Millerville Baptist Church in Millerville, Alabama. The service was spirit filled with the Lord’s Supper closing out the service. Of course (as always, wherever we go) the noon time meal was so good. It is really hard to sing after lunch, but the spirit walked the aisles during the afternoon singing. After a quick freshening up, we headed to Sardis Baptist Church in Ashland, Alabama for their fifth Sunday singing. The spirit really moved during the singing and the testimony time. This coming Saturday we will be enjoying the good fried chicken and fellowship at Buckner’s in Jackson, Georgia. Brother Ed is a great host and we always enjoy singing at the music hall. On Sunday, we will celebrate homecoming at Lineville Church of God in Lineville, Alabama. God is continuing to open so many doors for 2010 and 2011. Keep us in your prayers as we travel from week to week.

Opening late night doors

Filed under: New Hope Information — newhopeqt @ 2:14 pm

What a GREAT weekend we had! God is so good…ALL the time! The weather was hot and sticky but we had a spirit filled singing at Bay Springs Motel and Campground in Centre, Alabama Saturday night. There was a good crowd and we enjoyed making so many new friends. Thanks to Terri and Rickey Hyatt at Bay Springs for their hospitality and kindness. It was good to have the opportunity to sing with Sweet Victory from Centre, Alabama. It was good to meet ReJeana Leeth, a gospel music radio personality from Boaz, Alabama. Thanks for the interview! We look forward to being back at Bay Springs in August. To show how God works, we received an invitation at 9:30 Saturday night to sing at a church In Gadsden, Alabama Sunday morning. There was one problem…the girls didn’t have any appropriate clothes to wear. We all said that if God wanted us to sing Sunday morning that Walmart would have some clothes. They did…so we accepted the invitation around 10:00 Saturday night. After an early rise, we drove over to Gadsden and had a spirit filled service with Brother Tony McGowan at New Life Baptist Church. When we arrived home Sunday afternoon, we were all tired but we realized even more how God works in wonderful ways and opens doors for us to share the Gospel. It doesn’t slow down as we have three singings on the schedule for this weekend. Saturday night we will be singing at Hollonville Opry House in Hollonville, Georgia. Sunday morning and afternoon we will celebrate homecoming at Millerville Baptist Church in Millerville, Alabama. We will finish up the weekend at Sardis Baptist Church in Ashland, Alabama. Pray that God will give us traveling graces and will visit each service in a special way.

Another good weekend

Filed under: New Hope Information — newhopeqt @ 2:24 pm

It was another good weekend for us. We had a great time at the Clay County Music and Arts Festival in Ashland, Alabama on Saturday. It was a hot day, but we had the opportunity to see a lot of old friends and make some new ones. Thanks to the Clay County Chamber of Commerce for inviting us and we look forward to being at the festival again next year. On Sunday we celebrated homecoming at Ai Baptist Church in Heflin, Alabama. The service was good and the noon-time meal was much more than we needed! Thanks to Bro. Donald Leggett and all the members for their hospitality. This weekend we are going to spend the weekend on the lake…literally! On Saturday night we will be at Bay Springs Motel in Centre, Alabama for an outdoor singing under the stars. This is the first we have been to Bay Springs and we are looking forward to meeting everyone there. God is continuing to bless in so many ways and is continuing to pen so many doors for us to share the Gospel. Keep us in your prayers that we might always do the Father’s Will.
